The 18" tall green stalks emerge in late August (NC), topped with 5 6 yellow buds tipped with red streaks. The buds open to small, rich yellow, ruffled flowers with a darker golden yellow streak down the center of the petals, contrasting nicely to the cranberry tipped anthers. The foliage emerges in
