Agave obscura Gnome Gardens and we expect great things(syn: A. polycantha var. jalapensis) This collection of the rare (or should I say obscure) North American native agave hails from the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz, where it can be found on rocky, granite basalt outcrops. This small 2' wide, rarely suckering, century plant forms a tight mound of green, small spined leaves, topped when mature with a dramatic 15' tall flower spike of dark red flowers.
