An opening in the corner of the plate allows the use of a rail spike or lag bolt to stabilize the plate when working on curves
Ideal for smoothing bolt holes drilled into rail to prevent rail cracking
Because the plates fit around the railroad tie plate
operators can grab the spike from either side of the rail with no need to reposition – then automatically pull the spike and drop it at the top of the stroke using a single motion
