The Great Melbourne Telescope mb-artist W_Wallis It was designed for correctingThe 48 inch reflecting telescope, designed by Thomas Grubb, seen erected at Grubb's works at Rathmines in Dublin, Ireland. A workman takes up the observer's position, sitting in a temporary chair observer. The telescope was tested at the Grubb works before being sent to the Melbourne Observatory, Australia, to become operational in 1869. Inscribed verso in pencil: '?
