Two Oranges and a Checkerboard by Mary Humphrey stacking disks 25" wide x 2" deepI've listed a few penmanship expertises by this same Mary separately, but thought these two cutout watercolor orange and crayon drawn checkerboard made rather a sweet group, so here they are. I like how the green stem of the orange becomes a blur as it grows in size, and just purely love the checkerboard, where at times Mary shifted the direction of her crayon coloring of the squares from vertical to horizontal, adding to the effect.
