Glass Plate Negative of Woman Skating Figure Eights on Pond, 1890s brush with light wood handle The bark of the branchI love this antique glass plate negative for many reasons, including for dense wall of spindly trees in the background, and for what one imagines was this woman's pure pleasure in skating, but most of all for the figure eight traced on the surface of the ice, clearly drawn by her skates many times over. I like glass place negatives that are great objects in and of themselves, and here I think the wintery trees and traces of her skates on the ice are
