Circa early half of the 19th century, possibly German. The wood box is in vintage condition with evidence of age and use; the metal mechanism is missing its sliding cover, there are cracks and chips; overall a great antique patina. The piece measures approximately: the wood box 6" square, the handle measures 6 1 4" long. Great vintage look, purchased in an antique market in Amsterdam.
