Those unpainted (or once painted but with the paint completely worn away) white glass eyes completely make him for me so intense, looking absolutely as if having a vision, eyes rolled to the back of his head. And the erosion to his face, nose flattened and pinkish paint worn away in spots revealing the wood underneath, just add to the effect. His armlessness and posture and the shape of the collar
