A bit of research reveals that it is in fact a Victorian era invalid carriage --I've included an advertisement from the 1890s featuring one very similar

There is a small loss to the lip on the bottom half of the box and a bit of separation at the tail of the lapped interior

it has lost part of the roof on one side

This is a good example, a vase with a nice long neck, in good condition, lovely all the way around. . There is some writing on the underside in graphite which I can't quite discern, but looks to say New Mexico and I believe the year 1930,
