and the back is a pretty marvelous almost grain-painted looking whit/pale blue/rose

This is a large one, late 19th century or so I would guess, with colorful raised designs, I think properly described as tufted wool, against a dark navy ground, also wool I believe. And very sweet hand tatted lace trim around the perimeter. Like a whole showcase
